Technological Trivia of Game Physics

If you have heard the term ‘game physics’ for the first time then you are not the only one. This latest modern technology, also called computer animation physics, has nurtured itself in the world of video games as an indispensable tool. It involves the introduction of the laws of physics into a simulation or game engine for making the effects more real to the user or observer. Using 3-D computer graphics, this physics simulation is a close approximation to the real physics.

Earlier, the special effects were not as evolved as it has now become. For example, a computer game featuring some explosion used simple and monotonous effects of blast in each circumstance. Unlike real world, where an explosion includes disturbed terrain, different impact on different solid bodies and the varying magnitude of the explosion. Game physics brings reality on your screen decoding the minute details and enhancing the thrilling experience of gaming.

Like computer animation physics, there exist another term called ‘Ragdoll physics’ which infuses life into a computer video game. This is a procedural animation and simulation technique to display the movement of a character when killed. It treats the character’s body as a series of rigid bones connected together with hinges at the joints. The simulation models what happens to the body as it collapses to the ground.

More sophisticated technologies are introduced to enhance the illustrative effects. Definitely, as a player most of us are unaware about the details and complications dealt by the programmers and technologist while preparing a software.
