Guest Houses In Blackpool: A Broad Spectrum Of Possibilities

Visitors to tourist destinations the world over often complain about the lack of options when it comes to entertainment, dining and accommodation. Blackpool, however, is usually not on the receiving end of such complaints. The opposite could be said to be true: the sheer number of guest houses in Blackpool underscores the choices the town offers in every area.

Over the years, Blackpool has transformed from an escape for laborers from the region to a world class destination with pleasures both large and small. This destination is constantly evolving to cater to more tastes and lengths of stay. One way to decide on a hotel is by locating yourself closer to the activities that interest you the most.

Lovers of clubbing and night life are often attracted to the area near the Blackpool Tower. Accommodation is plentiful here and the town’s night life is within walking distance, not to mention Blackpool Tower itself. It houses a variety of entertainment spots as well.

If Pleasure Beach is the main purpose of your trip, you might consider staying near the South Pier. Pleasure Beach contains over one hundred rides as well as an incredible amount of activities, from games for children to live shows. Needless to say, this could take up a significant amount of your time here, so proximity to the park will save time and get you to the park more quickly.

Blackpool has a reputation of being a gay-friendly destination. Gay travelers should have no trouble finding accommodation and night life catered to their needs. Several gay-friendly accommodation options are available around the North Station.

Accommodation can be cheap, as well. Stag and hen parties take place here on a regular basis, and many hotels and guesthouses offer reduced rates for large groups. Individuals can often take advantage of these deals as well, so look around on the web to see if your dates correspond to any of these deals.

Even those who decide to stay a little bit further out from the core attractions can enjoy their visit. The town offers many different ways to get around. Renting a car is an obvious choice, but public buses and trams are also popular among visitors. Visitors may also hire bicycles out and get around that way, which can be a more pleasant way of seeing the sights in the open air. If you are not the cycling type, the town is still friendly to people on foot.

The most important thing to consider is what you want from the trip. Some people want exciting, fast-paced nights, while others are looking for a more family oriented holiday. Others have come to see the natural sights on the coast. Weigh these factors to help you narrow your choices down. You will find that a number of guest houses in Blackpool cater to all of these interests and more.

Want to find out what your options are in terms of Guest Houses in Blackpool? Get the inside scoop now in our Hotels in Blackpool overview.

Passing Some Time In The Fabulous City Of Edinburgh Is Time Spent In Good Company

It has been said that spending some time in the beautiful city of Edinburgh is time spent in good company. That could mean more than one thing. Obviously it could refer to the friends you have with you when you visit. But maybe too, it refers to the quite remarkable people one encounters when there. Especially, if you’re not very sure what to really expect when you arrive.

If that’s all they know it’s probably not enough to entice them to go there for a vacation or even a short break. But, very few people, who visit it, come away with anything less than enthusiasm. For some reason they had expected something a lot less exciting and interesting than what they discovered by going there. In other words many people’s pre-conceived ideas are completely at odds with reality.

There are so many “great” aspects to this city that it is by no means easy to isolate the most important ones. It has stunning architecture. It has world famous festivals. Though the surrounding hinterland boast some beautiful scenery, the city itself has a rugged beauty too. Apart from such tangible or physical attributes, this city has produced some to the great thinkers, writers and inventors of recent centuries.

Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland. The devolved parliament of Scotland has its seat in this city. It makes many of the laws of the land, though ultimate power still rests with Westminster. It is not the largest city in the nation. That accolade goes to Glasgow. Edinburgh has just slightly fewer than half a million inhabitants against Glasgow’s approximately six hundred thousand.

Many people go to Edinburgh just to experience the architecture. The buildings of interest, mainly spanning Medieval and Georgian periods, are so highly regarded internationally, that UNESCO has listed two separate entire city areas as “World Heritage Sites”. The Grecian style of some of its architecture, has earned the city the moniker “Athens of the North”.

Those who don’t come for the architecture have numerous other excuses to travel north. One is undoubtedly the famous Edinburgh festival - though this is really a plethora of diverse festivals that run annually in August. The official “Edinburgh festival” is an internationally acclaimed celebration of theatre and classical music. The famous “Fringe” festival which as its name would suggest, was initially on the margins, has now become the more popular. It is claimed to be the world’s largest arts festival. Part of this Fringe festival is the increasingly trendy “Comedy” festival.

Edinburgh itself is a beautiful place to take a break. But if you want to briefly get away from the city but not go too far, the nearby stunning countryside is well worth a visit and very accessible. The picturesque countryside of West and East Midlothian and sandy beaches on the North sea are perfect for a day out.

But spending some time in the beautiful city of Edinburgh would be an incomplete sojourn without at least paying homage to some of the great people who have lived there. J. K. Rowling (Harry Potter author), Sean “007″ Connery, Robert Louis Stephenson (Author), Adam Smith (Economist), Charles Darwin (Evolutionist), Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (Sherlock Holmes author) and last but not least Alexander Graham Bell, without whom the concept of “ET” or anyone else phoning home would be entirely meaningless.

Guest houses in Edinburgh as well as Hotels in Edinburgh can provide tons of comfort. If you love living the high life, then you are moving in the right direction.

Short Holidays To The British Isles Will Leave You Wishing You Could Visit Again

Traveling by vintage steam train is a splendidly original way to enjoy the spectacular views and rich cultural history of northwest England’s Cumbrian Coast. This is one of the most engaging places in the UK to visit with plenty to keep you and your children occupied.

Rail offers passengers the truly phenomenal chance to explore the Cumbrian Coast area of western Britain by Victorian steam trains, which methodically run on numerous Saturdays across the summer months, departing from various stations in the region. Travelers can select from a variety of amenities, including open carriages with extra legroom, wide seats and panoramic windows.

While the remarkable charm that naturally comes with riding on a wonderfully restored vintage train is difficult to beat, passengers will thrill to the spectacular mountain and water perspectives along the route. The inter-tidal mudflats of the Lake District’s Morecambe Bay, for instance, boast abundant bird and sea life, as well as a seemingly endless expanse of striking sand and salt marshes that are wonderfully framed by mountains and the deep waters of the Irish Sea.

Also of note, Raby Castle is encircled by a splendid, 80-hectare deer park, which is home to herds of Red deer and Fallow deer that boast a lineage which can sometimes be traced back to Norman times. In addition, the traditional, 18th century walled gardens boast historic ornaments, trees and plants, including a White Ischia Fig tree that dates to 1786 and still bears fruit yearly.

After returning to Ravenglass, passengers can also opt to take a roach coach shuttle on a brief trip to the 13th century Muncaster Castle, which is perched overlooking the moors and boasts superb gardens. Finally, adventuresome travelers can also extend the trip to include a 30-minute trip to the ancient port city of Whitehaven, which has been settled since the 10th century and boasts the most complete example of Georgian architecture in all of Europe. Here, visitors will discover wonderful shopping and dining opportunities, as Sat. is market day.

Visit Beamish Wild Birds of Prey Centre this year.

Snoop Dogg calls for help!!

The Grammy Award-nominated American rapper, record producer, and actor, Snoop Dogg is desperate to get back to UK and has called in the big guns to help him fight the ban.

The hip-hop legend was arrested for involvement in a brawl at London’s Heathrow Airport in April 2006 after he along with his friends was refused an entry into British Airways’ first-class lounge. He was consequently banned from entering UK for three years. Following this the rap star also had to call off his joint mega-tour with P Diddy.

But now, a ‘desperate’ and ‘reformed’ Snoopy is banking on his superstar pals Sir Paul McCartney, David Beckham and Madonna to fight his case.

“I love London and I’m desperate to come back. I’ve called David Beckham, Sir Paul McCartney - hell, I want to get the whole of the Beatles to help me get back in. I’m trying to get through to Madonna as well. I’d love them all to write to the Prime Minister to change his mind”, said Snoop. In a hope to gain support, the superstar has also urged his admirers to support his plea.

UK couple asks media to report carefully

A British couple that was caught in the Mumbai terror attacks have complained that a news channel had put their lives at risk by broadcasting their location in the Taj Mahal Hotel. Lynne and Kenneth Shaw, who live in South Wales, said that terrorists were listening to the media while pinpointing the Western victims. Lynne also claimed that the channel broadcast details of where they were at the hotel. She has appealed to the media to be careful with the information it broadcasts because safety could be compromised and lives could be lost. The couple returned to Heathrow on Saturday.

Lynne was forced to hide under a table as terrorists stormed the hotel. She and her husband were later rescued by Gurkhas and taken to the Australian embassy for safety. The couple were at the end of a month-long visit to India and were staying in Mumbai for a few days before heading back to the UK.
