Have Your Own Indoor Garden of Herbs
There is nothing like fresh herbs to season a dish, refresh the indoors or simply inhale their scents to perk up your mood. Even though most of us do not have the time or space to plan out an elaborate herb garden, with a little bit of sunshine and a windowsill of pots, you can surely have a decent supply of herbs through the year.
The first step is to choose what herbs you would like grow and why- may be you want them to season your food or make potpourri or simply delight in their fragrance. Browse through books and nurseries to know more.
Decide on a spot where the plants would get at least four hours of sunlight. Also be careful to avoid extreme temperatures or direct drafts.
Plant herbs in pots that are at least 8 inches deep and 6-8 inches across. For multiple plants in one pot, ensure that the plants are spaced out 6-8 inches apart.
Get good quality potting soil which drains well and is a mixture of coarse sand and mushroom compost. While planting the herbs in your own containers, set them at the same depth as in their nursery pots.
Water newly set plants well till the soil is fully soaked but be careful never to overwater.
