A Helping Hand
A massive earthquake changed many people’s life on January 12, 2010 in Haiti and surrounding areas. Countless number of people died, thousands became homeless and the loss due to this disastrous calamity ran into billions of dollars. Unknown numbers of people were missing in the rubbles. The tremors were felt even in Venezuela. A state of total chaos ran into the veins of every person who witnessed the tragedy around them. The whole country’s economic and social platform has been hugely affected since then. Already Haiti is the western hemisphere’s poorest country. More than 70% of the total population is living on a basic income of not more than $2(US dollars) per day.
This disaster has struck not only the nation but its people and deeply shaken their lives. Some have lost their loved ones, others have lost their homes, jobs, hard owned money, everything and they have been in great pain since the catastrophe struck.
People across the world have lent a hand to help in form of monetary and non-monetary means. Many social networking sites, like popular Facebook, have been initiating people to help and support to re-establish lives of those natives who are affected. This site has collaborated with many social servicing agencies that have been active in these areas at the grass-root level. Facebook is accessed by millions of people across the globe and this kind of initiative is highly appreciable as it reaches out to huge masses with 100% guarantee of donation reaching the destitute.
Atleast humans should be able to understand and feel the pain of others. Many have been helping all the way through, join their hands. After all, we are of same kind and we all live on the same land which is scratched by borders drawn by others.

Facebook users protest home page changes
Yes, again! As the popular social networking website, Facebook continues its makeover policy, a “Change Facebook Back to Normal” group at the website claimed slightly more than a million members urging the social networking giant to change back.
On Friday, Facebook modified its news feed feature to let members of the world’s leading social-networking service catch up on tidbits they may have missed while away from the website. However this change, as like the previous times, yet again triggered ire amongst the millions of users that prefer things remain the same.
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” a Facebook user with the screen name Carlos Deleon wrote on a protest group chat page clearly stating the preference for the former page and in protest against the company’s policy to continuously introduce changes in its homepage.
The Facebook’s new feature enables the users to switch between getting real time streams of news or activities taking place and the highlights of what their friends have shared in the preceding 24 hours. The new concept of Live Feed option funnels updates and news about online friends’ activities to Facebook home pages.

Twitter, Facebook costing British economy £1.38bn
Twitter and Facebook! That’s how you keep in touch with your numerous friends and well wishers across the world. Touted as two of the most popular and the fastest growing social networking sites, these are known to be the best way to keep yourself updated about the every minute happening around the world.
However, the British economy might not appreciate this cult. According to a new survey, popular social networking sites including Twitter and Facebook are actually costing British businesses 1.38 billion pounds a year in wasted time.
The figures in the survey reveal a rather sad figure. According to the figures, more than half the office employees have admitted using these social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook for personal use during the working day. Reportedly, they have admitted wasting as much as a good 40 minutes on average a week each!
According to the report published in The Daily Telegraph, one in every three of the 1460 office employees surveyed also admitted having seen sensitive company information posted on social networking sites, leading to fears about how workers use the Internet.

Facebook may be infested with a virus
Facebook’s 120 million users are being constantly targeted by a virus dubbed ‘Koobface’ that uses the social network’s messaging system to infect PCs and tries to gather sensitive information such as credit card numbers.
It is the latest attack by hackers increasingly looking to prey on users of social networking sites. Facebook spokesman Barry Schnitt mentioned in an e-mail that most of the viruses have tried to use Facebook in similar ways to propagate themselves as Koobface has. Koobface spreads by sending notes to friends of someone whose PC has been infected. Messages, with subject headers like, “You look just awesome in this new movie,” direct recipients to a website where they are asked to download what it claims is an update of Adobe Systems Inc’s Flash player. Once downloaded the users end up with an infected computer, taking them to contaminated sites when they try to use search engines from Google, Yahoo, MSN and Live.com, according McAfee.
