Bihar finds mosquito repellent in elephant dung

India has experienced the elephant dung sale as famous as selling hot cake at the famous annual cattle fair. Although this is being sold for use as a mosquito repellent as well as fuel. The demand is high for elephant dung as a mosquito repellent has made it much sought after at this cattle fair, about 35 km from Bihar capital Patna. Being the cheapest form of mosquito repellent, it is like a herbal medicine sans any side effects.

It is said that as elephant dung is more effective than any other mosquito repellent available in the market, a ten kg keg is enough for a family of four to get rid of mosquitoes and keep them warm on winter nights.

A £500,000 award in damages to a British lady after an elephant attack

Wendy Martin was almost dead after being gored by an elephant in Kenya. Martin was alsmot left dead after being injured by the animal about eight years ago. Her injuries included a crushed pelvis, after the elephant dragged her along before abandoning her.

Martin was taking part in a bush run with two friends and a tour guide when the elephant appeared. Although reports from the ‘Daily Nation’ insist that the guide prodded the tourists to run, he forgot to tell them the direction of their marathon. Wendy fell to the ground before she could get far, and the animal found her sprawled under a bush. With tusks gnawing her body with the full weight of it on her, the animal struck its tusks twice, leaving her completely bruised. She fell and the tusks went directly through her torso, twice through her right leg. Her kidney was removed as the tusk went through her back. The court officials stated that she was flown to Nairobi Hospital, and later airlifted to England when she underwent between 15 and 20 surgical operations. After she sued the Il Ngwesi Company Limited and its owner Ian Craig, she insisted that the agree to the liabilities and she was awarded 65 million shillings in damages.
