determination

It is not given to all

Calvin Coolidge (30th President of the United States, 1872-1933) once said “nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent, unrewarded genius, unutilized potential and educated derelicts”. Truly, this world is full of such examples. Every person has been gifted with unsurpassed talent and capability, but most of the time the gift is never opened. How many people you know who had a remarkable quality to rise above all but due to some obstacle they got, what they didn’t deserve? Many! The list can also be countless, if seen with a broad prospect.

A wife left her passion, career and obsession to settle with her husband, the eldest son of the family killed his aspirations of studying in Harvard to fulfill others requirements after father’s death, a homemaker gave up her dreams to be a devoted single mother, a waiter-boy having talents equivalent to a sensational singer washed dish plates in a corner of dusty crowd, a “NBA material” working in grocery shop clearing stacks……these are just few examples out of millions.

So, in such cases is it necessary that the person lacked determination, capability, enthusiasm, hope, guts or sincerity? No. We take birth, live a life and develop a “dream” (which turns out to be much more important than anything else) of becoming “somebody” from “a nobody”. With the passage of time, the feeling grows stronger and stronger with small achievements, daily prayers, wishes and occasional appraisements. And one day, suddenly we hit a point in our life where we realize that there are other things important too. There are other constraints too, which cannot be neglected. Without which, we cannot bridge the difference between the dreams and realities. Slowly, we spend our whole life fulfilling these constraints, eventually discovering the happily-ever-after potion is not delivered to all. Most of us have to fight their way to get even a single drop and by the time we reach our destination, it is the dead end.

Talking idyllically is easy, but sometimes we are bound to change according to situations and conditions.
