The Manchester United as they are popularly and justly known as red devils, are once again all set for the Premier League’s trophy for 2009 season. The club is one of the most successful Premier League champions to retain the trophy for 10 times. It took 26 years long wait for Man U to hold the charismatic trophy and after that there was no looking back for the team. They romped to further titles in 1994, 1996,1997,2000,2001 and 2003. Chelsea nearly broke their dominance over the title in year 2005 and 2006 but the red devils once again claimed the throne in 2006/07 season and where the alone triumphant winners of the Barclay’s Premiership.

The champions are setting the fields on fire this season too, by their outstanding performance holding the maximum of 18 points in their hands. Initially called Newton Heath L&YR F.C formed in 1878, the club changed its name to Manchester United. Under the shadow of extremely talented, long-serving Scotsman Sir Alex Ferguson, club has won 10 titles.

Manchester is perhaps doing really well this season even at the loss of a former key player Cristiano Ronaldo. His place was very easily recovered by Wayne Rooney. Sir Alex believes that there are very good player in this decade like Kaka, Ronaldo and Messi and thinks Rooney can match their levels if he progresses as he is doing.

All fans are waiting for a mind-blowing final match with Man U as insurmountable champions.

The sensational footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo has drifted towards Real Madrid from Manchester United accepting a world-record package deal of £80million.

Sir Alex hired a young 18 year old kid with a package deal of £12.24m in 2003, since then this lad has performed brilliantly reaching perfection on-field and earning huge money off-field. Soccer has proved itself not only as a passionate game but also as a glamorous buisness. After all, everybody requires “the best” on their side.

The star player has taken a long leap from being a not-so-popular footballer to the best player of all seasons. Real Madrid is looking forward to collect more trophies for their showcase and add delighting glory to the club with Ronaldo and Kaka. With Cristiano as a power-player for Real Madrid can prove fatal to others in coming championships.

Without wasting time Ronaldo showed his true potential on-field and gained the success ladder after a 30 minute debut against Bolton at OT in August 2003. 39 appearances and eight goals that season, he never looked back.

Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo could be in line for another major honor after being short-listed for the FIFA World Player of the Year award. The Portugal and Manchester United winger has been nominated alongside Barcelona duo Lionel Messi and Xavi, AC Milan playmaker Kaka and Liverpool striker Fernando Torres.

Reports say that Ronaldo was third in last year’s FIFA vote behind Brazilian winner Kaka and Argentinian Messi but is the overwhelming favourite to see off those two to take the award for 2008, which is presented in Zurich Jan 12. The Portuguese in the meanwhile have achieved phenomenal success individually and as part of a team last season, winning the Premier League and Champions League with United while scoring 42 goals.
