Have an Alcohol-Safe Party

One of the stickiest points while throwing a party is deciding how to keep intake of alcohol within limits. On one hand, you – as a host – cannot ask a guest to cut down on drinks but at the same time, you would like to ensure that there are no alcohol-related accidents either at your home or on the road. Here are a few ways which will help you to host an alcohol-safe party.

Begin with carefully going over the guest list. If it includes names infamous for their drunken behavior, do not hesitate to speak to them in advance and make sure they have alternative modes of transportation after the party.

Keep ample amounts of food around so that your guests do not drink on an empty stomach. Also offer your guests a wide choice of non-alcoholic drinks so that those who don’t prefer alcohol will not feel pressured to do so.

If you are planning cocktails, use fruit juices as a base instead of carbonated beverages as the former will be absorbed into the bloodstream at a slower rate.

Plan interesting party games or other group activities so that the focus of the evening is kept away from drinking.

It is a good idea to appoint a “bartender” who will mix drinks for the guests so that you can keep track of who is drinking how much.

Finally close down the bar at least an hour before the party ends and serve coffee or desserts for the rest of the night.
