Mount Cook National Park in New Zealand is an amazing destination which draws nature and adventure enthusiasts from across the world. The most significant feature of the Park is New Zealand’s highest mountain peak, Mount Cook or Aoraki in Maori, which stands at 3754 meters.

Mount Cook National Park is New Zealand’s largest alpine park and spreads over hectares. It is a rugged landscape or rock and ice and in fact over 40% of the park is covered by glaciers. the Tasman Glacier which is New Zealand’s largest glacier can be clearly seen from the main highway near the entrance to the park. The Mount Cook National Park also includes nineteen of the highest peaks in the region, all standing well above 3000 meters.

Visitors to the Aoraki or Mount Cook National Park have a wide range of activities to choose from. There are amazing hiking trails which vary from ten short or day walking routes for the casual hikers to three more complicated Alpine routes for the experienced hikers. There are also plenty of opportunities to go mountaineering, mountain biking and skiing. The less adventurous can even take scenic flights from Mount Cook Airport to experience the amazing landscape of the park.
