Muse
Whispers Vol. 1 Review

Poetry
that emanates from the heart singes the consciousness of one and all. Muse Whispers is
a valiant endeavour that brings to the fore serene and somnolent stirrings of poets and
artists from the world over.
The volume is a vivid collaboration of contemporary poems, put together here to both
elicit and exhibit some of the finest, some of the rawest and, all universal, human
experience. The hundred and ten poets in this collection come from various parts of the
world, from different socio-economic realities and from frenetically contrary beliefs.
A pack of chuckles the black one mine
Bomb shelter in the basement just in time
is very different from
Ive been drinking my Denial Cola through a straw, chest down
and from,
I make my money
the American way
I get up every morning
and I punch the clock
And yet, the soul of each poem is infinite, unvanquished and remains universal and
enduring. Blank verse, rhyme, lyric, non-conformist stylistic deviation, humable
concoctions, tumbling alliterations and heady meters are the individual strains that
spring from the pages with much enthusiasm and stop short only when they overrun
themselves.
Muse Whispers gathers and hems in these diverse but not discordant notes of feeling
and makes them add to the edifying and cathartic experience that poetry is.
Carefully and diligently the makers of this compilation have assembled an array of poetic
concerns that plague the world that each poet inhabits. Some of these concerns weigh
heavily on civilization as a whole, as the technicality, the banality of addiction to
machinery, while others lament the erosion of perennially significant values and emotions.
Each poem represents the ion of inspiration that sets it aglow. Even where one hastens to deem
a piece mediocre, the sincerity of the poet, his confines and his credits emerge
victorious. Poems like Place: My Life, Leaving No Footprints, Near Mexico,
Shell And Pearl, and The American Dream reverberate with an understated but
sublime feeling of authority and knowledge. Muse Whispers works as a custodian of
the poignantly felt impressions of the poets.
The poets are arranged alphabetically, so as to make mini anthologies of each
writers oeuvre. Interesting variations both thematically and technically are made
obvious within these sub structures, to bring out the range and verve of each artist. They
are amateurs, professionals, pleasers and appeasers.
With Muse Whispers, the reader feels his imagination fuelled and anxiety both
quelled and heightened. The fact that those writing are ordinary men and women, inspired
by daunting and magical circumstances makes the book special. The Muses do preside
over this anthology, and it is the simplicity and unpretentiousness of the work that makes
it a good buy. Some write for reasons known and some for reasons of their
own
