| James Dinverno
Born in Detroit, MI 1966, James currently resides in San Diego CA. He received formal training at the Columbus College of Art and Design and creates within a palette of mixed media assemblage, digital painting, collage, pen and ink, oil stick wash, film, and poetry. From iconic, pop illustrations in the Philippines to merchandising graphics for Structure, his diverse portfolio has anchored a global clientele.
His thought provoking creations depict man and nature at odds with one another. The proliferation of mass media adds a raw spin to this cerebral soup. He reflects that mankind is in a continual cycle of reinterpreting its existence. Why did our prehistoric relatives hunch in dark caves and carve iconic symbols; to communicate an event in time; to leave the encrypted answer to life's riddle? To create a piece that freely questions the emotional and physical implications amongst a diverse audience is the core drive for James.
He credits his mother as the initial catalyst in his creative growth. His high school art teacher, Mr. Rathbun, fueled the desire to achieve. His soft spoken father gave him insight to the realities that lay before him. James enjoys writing and has a book of eclectic poetry and prose published by Minerva Press entitled "Sanctum". He also enjoys studying ancient cultures, travel, B-movies, independent film/theater, dada conversation, consuming delicious food followed by a bottle of vino, and spoiling his two dogs. His favorite place is standing on top of Machu Picchu, Peru; mentally channeling into an open state of being.
