Gay Pride and their Rights

If you are not one of them, imagining the hardships tackled by the queer people (gay men, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender and other sexual minorities) is not possible. After long years of injustice and discrimination from the mainstream, the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) rights movement is spreading a global message across the world to let them live with their rights. The global protest for acquiring gay rights began in Europe over one hundred years ago to change the rigid mentality of orthodox society and gain respect with acceptance.

The community earlier was uncomfortable to speak about their sexual orientation to the society, friends and even their parents thus, locking themselves from the world with a reason which was never their fault. Many of them, till date, are suffering with the marginalization. Who would like a life where you are accused as criminal in your own country for just being yourself? LGBT is now turning to be the largest social movements and trying to break the chains of each and every queer to “come out” and fight for their birth rights.

Being a part of queer community should not be treated as a disease. They are one of us.
The mainstream has homophobia-fear of gays, but if you do have some friends from this community, you have to admit that fearing from a human is an act of silliness. Conservatives should understand that these communities, after all, are humans who have every right to open the windows to look outside into a life where they breathe in open air as these traditionalists do.

Live and let them live.

Drugs addiction is Sinful but…

It is really painful to see your beloved to struggle with his/her life in rehabilitation centre because they chose slow and agonizing death over life filled with colors of happiness. Drug abuse is a sensitive issue and concerns with a valuable life. Hence, the strong myths and misconceptions should be targeted with appropriate scientific knowledge.

So, how an individual gets addicted to drugs and how do drugs alter the functioning of brain and direct it towards drug abuse? Addiction is disease that affects both brain and behavior. Drug consumers are categorized as morally flawed and lacking in willpower. It should not be treated as a moral failure but as a health problem which should include preventative and therapeutic actions rather than society accustomed tradition to thrash their remaining strength to live.

Family and friends can play a major role in curing and taking out a person from that dreaded world. Psychologically it is very helpful. Moral support can do wonders to rejuvenate the soul once again which prescribed medicines can’t do.

Once you are aware of the fact that your loved one is consuming drugs and has made it a part of his/her life, what would you do? Cry, howl, shout, get angry or leave them? This addiction is not the right approach to deal with problems of life which are common to all but if they have adopted this way as the only solution we can’t run away from the fact that they are part of our lives. If they have chosen a wrong path then it is our duty to introduce them to the life, once again.

It is said a person can be freed from such severe addiction only by love, care, blessing and moral support.

Now is the Time to Ask for that Date

How many times have you almost asked that attractive looking co-commuter out on a date? There are so many times when we wish we had the courage to ask a person out and yet have stepped back wracked by anxieties. Here are some tips to help you go ahead with that dream date.

The first step is naturally to introduce yourself to the person whom you’ve been admiring silently. Ask for his/her phone number or if this seems to drastic get a common acquaintance to acquire a contact number.

Call the person at a convenient time and remind him/her that you had introduced yourself. Beat as little about the bush as you can and lightly suggest if you both could get together for coffee or do something similarly casual.

If the other person refuses politely, take the hint and hang up after a cordial good bye. On the other hand if he or she agrees, suggest a meeting point and time which will agree with both of you.

Let the meeting be casual and a brief one – half an hour or so. This will be enough to indicate if both of you would like to get to know each other better. If so, go ahead and ask for a more formal date such as a movie and a dinner.

Having Siblings around

Being the only child you are bound to miss the fun shared by all those who have siblings. Sharing your childhood with your sister or brother doesn’t only mean filling the empty space but to learn. Learn to bond, be helpful and encouraging, to understand the real meaning of family, to compromise, to witness healing, pain and to share a part of your soul with a beloved one.

Parents with single child boast that their kid has never felt alone because they have provided alternatives which never let her/him feel alone. But can a toy or big teddy bear without emotions can be compared to human. Today’s scenario contains mostly working parents and owing to this fact, the only kid is left at home with the company of a nanny. With a companion at home, a child learns how to be a street-smart. Having someone around to share happiness and moments of sorrow is psychologically advantageous promoting a more relaxed and peaceful state of mind.

We fight with them, never get tired of bullying them, often pray to the lord not to provide such kind of nuisance to anyone else, use their things without permission, hate them when the same happens to us, eat their part of delicious cuisines and always follow the natural way of spending time i.e. hitting each other. But we regret each and every single second when they are not around for long time and it’s really very strange, we MISS them.

Whether you like them or not but you are bound to love them for whatever they are.

What Can Trigger Off A Migraine Attack?

People suffering from migraines can attest to the extreme distress that such headaches can cause in their lives.

Migraine attacks typically result in pounding headaches, nausea, vomiting and light sensitivity. Scientists have been wary in laying out clear-cut causes of migraine attacks which may range from genetic predisposition to stress and chemical triggers. However a recent study by a research team from Boston may shed light on definite links between migraine attacks and the onset of warm weather.

Lead author of the study Kenneth J Mukamal, MD and his colleagues found that for every 9 degree Fahrenheit rise in atmosphere temperature, there was 7.5% rise in risk of a migraine headache. This link held good regardless of the time of the year and an increase in temperature emerged as the most significant weather-related headache trigger.

Mukamal is associated with Boston’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as well as the Harvard Center for Public Health. The study compared the medical records of 7054 patients of headaches treated at a Boston hospital’s emergency section over a period of seven years. Mukamal and his colleagues however did not find any conclusive evidence on the link between higher levels of pollution and increased frequency of migraine headaches.
